Health and Caring
Welcome to the Health and Caring
section of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Website
Health can mean many different things to many different people. The
work we do at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is mostly around
keeping people healthy rather than delivering healthcare. The
Council helps to ensure that food premises are safe, that people
are living in healthy environments and that any problems that could
affect health such as pests are taken care of as soon as possible.
You can find out more about these services in our ‘Environment’ pages. The
Council also works to provide suitable homes for local people by
helping people get an affordable home and helping people to improve
their home. You can find out more about these services in our
‘Housing’
pages.
The Healthier Communities
Team at the Council works closely with the NHS to deliver
activities to help you get, or stay, healthy. You can find out more
about these activities on the Choosing
Health pages or you can get more general advice about
healthy living at NHS Direct.

Healthcare in Tunbridge
Wells, such as GPs, hospitals and dentists, are provided by
West Kent NHS. Services such
as community nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy,
chiropody and community hospitals all form part of Primary Care.
The local NHS also provides information on health promotion, child
health, child protection and health in schools. The NHS provides
all the GP services in the area. To find out more, please visit
West Kent NHS, or use one
of the weblinks at the bottom of the page.
Hospitals in the Tunbridge
Wells area are run by the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS
Trust.
Social care is delivered by
Kent County Council. They
provide care services for all ages and stages of life, including
older people, disabled people, people with mental health problems
and children and families. Kent County Council offer both
residential and home support as well as fostering and adoption
services.
We hope you find these pages useful. Why not
have a look around and see what you can join in with to get
healthier?
Stay healthy!
