Tunbridge Wells Gateway is a joint venture between Kent County
Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, working together with
public sector agencies, volunteer and charitable organisations to
offer customers a wide variety of services, delivered in a modern
and user-friendly location right on the high street.
The Gateway offers something for everyone,
from skills learning to housing advice, access to voluntary
organisations and Kent County Council services. You can also access
the internet free of charge and make automated payments. All
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council services are delivered out of
Gateway.
The Gateway includes a ‘Changing Place’ toilet
facility with a hoist and an adult-sized, height-adjustable
changing bench.. It also has a centrally-placed toilet, known
as a peninsular toilet, which has space on either side to make it
as easy as possible to use. The Changing Place allows access
to the heart of the community for people with complex physical
needs, their carers and families.

What about the
areas without a permanent Gateway?
The Gateway scheme also includes a mobile Gateway that comes in
the form of a trailer, which is towed by the Land Rover pictured.
This is taken out to rural areas and other town centres across the
county where there is no permanent Gateway. It is a great way of
bringing local services direct to people and ties in with the aim
of providing services to customers in the way that they want to
receive them.
