Welcome
A timely message from your local Police
Inspector Despite the fact that the weather can not
make its mind up whether its summer or autumn I have noticed two
significant things recently: The first is, as my mum always says to
me ‘its getting late early.’ The nights are drawing in so ensuring
you have a light on in your property before it gets dark is very
important for crime prevention and feelings of safety. Timer
switches are your best option and are reasonably priced through
West Kent Neighbourhood Watch or DIY and other stores and also the
internet. The second is the robins have been singing more
noticeably in my garden which indicates that I should not need to
spend too many more evenings mowing my lawn before I can lock up my
shed for the winter. If you have not got a shed alarm yet I would
encourage you to do so from any of the outlets mentioned above.
Neither of these should set you back more than £5 although you can
get more expensive ones which do provide more options. This is also
a good time of year to think about security for your property,
business, and allotment for next year. Careful planting of prickly
vegetation around boundaries, under windows or against fences does
pay dividends in increasing security while looking nice and helping
wildlife.
A brand
new Independent Sexual Violence Advisor is now able to
offer support to victims of sexual violence in Tunbridge
Wells. Offering support for victims of sexual violence on
their journey through the criminal justice system to enable
offenders to be brought to justice, and working with people in
vulnerable situations to reduce their chances of becoming victims,
are essential ingredients in tackling these types of crime.
