Benefits & Council Tax
Council Tax
Council Tax paid by the residents of
the borough goes towards the cost of the services that we all use,
such as collecting rubbish and street cleansing.
The Council keeps a small amount of the money
collected, only about 12% of the Council Tax you pay.
Most of the money, about 88% goes to Kent County Council, Kent
Police and the Fire and Rescue Service
Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
If you are liable to pay Council Tax on the property
you live in and are on a low income you may be entitled
to Council Tax Benefit(CTB).
Second Adult Rebate (2AR)
could reduce your bill if you are liable to pay the Council
Tax and have one or more people living with you who have a low
income. It may apply even if you are not able to receive benefit on
the basis of your own income and savings.
If you rent your property you may also be entitled
to Housing Benefit (HB).
