Tunbridge Wells Borough Council – Year of Celebrations begins!

TW-2012Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is excited to launch its Sport and Culture passport for 2012, supported by Will Bayley who will be competing at the Paralympics in 2012 in table tennis.

The passport is ultimately a competition; participants will have the opportunity to try activities or cultural experiences for free, and the more they try, they increase their chance of winning!  We have some amazing prizes to give away, sponsored by local firms including Cotswolds and ASDA (due to open on 16 January 2012).  If trying something new, different and learning about the wonderful opportunities in the borough of Tunbridge Wells isn’t enough of an incentive maybe the prizes will help!

We have a whole range of sports clubs and community groups that are offering free taster sessions including athletics, design challenges, judo, dance, swimming, a photography competition and so much more.

We are thrilled to have Will Bayley supporting our passport; Will said ‘I think that Tunbridge Wells Borough Council have really thought about how they want to celebrate 2012.  This passport will hopefully encourage residents to take up or at least try something new.  Being a local resident and enjoying Tunbridge Wells’ amenities means I know what great facilities and activities are around – so this is a great way to publicise the range that are happening all the time.’

Passports will be distributed to schools throughout January and will be available to pick up from all three Fusion Sports Centres, Gateway in Tunbridge Wells and the Museum & Art Gallery.  The passport is also available to download from http://www.tunbridgewellscelebrates.co.uk.

The first activity takes place on Saturday 7 January and the last take place on 9 September 2012.  All participants have to do is ensure they return their ‘completed’ passport to the Museum & Art Gallery before 10am on  Monday 17 September 2012 to be in with a chance of winning.
